Abstract:
•Although mitigation benefits are noteworthy, even mitigated climate change will lead to losses in services.•The pursuit of adaptive development pathways reduces significantly the climate risks on ecosystem services.•Human Development and Reduced Footprint development pathways promotes critical trade-offs among services.•Nature-based Solutions effectively reduced climate risks and greatly increase multiple services provisioning.•We need to mainstream Nature-based Solutions into global strategies of adaptation policies and actions.
