Executive personality and the gender pay gap

Abstract:
Utilizing a large sample of U.S. chief financial officers (CFOs), we show that both their personality and gender are significant determinants of their remuneration. Controlling for the ‘Big Five’ personality traits does not eliminate the differential in compensation between male and female CFOs.
