Finance Research Letters, 2023, vol. 55, issue PA

Abstract: Using 757 listed corporates of China's manufacturing industry from 1995 to 2019, we explore the relationship between open innovation, knowledge reorganization and innovation performance. We find open innovation, knowledge reorganization and creation as well as knowledge reorganization and reuse all have an inverted U-shaped relationship with innovation performance; knowledge reorganization and reuse inhibit the inverted U-shaped relationship between open innovation and innovation performance, which weaken the innovation performance of corporates in moderate open innovation and correct the lowered innovation efficiency caused by excessive open innovation. Corporates can improve innovation performance by adjusting and optimizing the relationship between open innovation and knowledge reorganization.
