Abstract:
When examining the wave of digitalization, the impact of electricity shortages on corporate digital transformation deserves attention. This study analyzes the influence of electricity shortages on corporate digital transformation and its mechanism. This study found that electricity shortages significantly reduce the level of corporate digital transformation, with strategy-driven and organization-enabling mechanisms being important. We utilized an exogenous electricity shortage event and constructed a difference-in-differences model to address the endogeneity issue. Our research enriches the literature on the factors influencing corporate digital transformation and provides new insights into the endogeneity problem in electricity shortage research.
