Abstract:
Using the data of listed companies from 2012 to 2022 as a sample, this paper investigates the relationship between executives with legal backgrounds, corporate governance, and firms‘ ESG performance. The empirical study finds that executives with legal backgrounds enhance firms’ ESG performance, good corporate governance structure can enhance firms‘ ESG performance, and the quality of information disclosure plays a mediating role in the relationship between executives with legal backgrounds and firms’ ESG performance.
