Finance Research Letters, 2024, vol. 70, issue C

Abstract: Following the implementation of the new environmental law, this paper investigates the impact of digitalization on corporate sustainability, grounded in digital economy strategies and sustainable development principles. Utilizing a sample of Chinese A-share listed companies from 2015 to 2021, the study explores how corporate digitalization influences their sustainable development and the underlying mechanisms involved. The findings indicate that corporate digitalization significantly improves sustainable development, with internal control quality and financing constraints acting as partial mediators in this process. Based on these findings, recommendations are provided to help Chinese listed companies implement the sustainable development strategies.
