Finance Research Letters, 2025, vol. 72, issue C

Abstract: Based on provincial-level data from China from 2008 to 2022, this study examines the impact of market integration on manufacturing exports. Market integration significantly enhances the export value of manufacturing. Mediation effect analysis indicates that market integration fosters export growth by promoting corporate innovation and economies of scale. Heterogeneity analysis confirms the differences between industries. Heavy industries are more affected by international competition and technological advancements. Light industries benefit more from market integration.
