Abstract:
Digital finance, fueled by digital technology, effectively meets the financial needs of diverse social groups. Our analysis of the China Household Finance Survey (CHFS) from 2015, 2017, and 2019 shows that digital financial development significantly increases residents’ social insurance participation by improving financial literacy and local information technology. This effect is particularly strong among residents in eastern regions and those with higher household assets.
