Abstract:
Using 2010–2022 data from 31 Chinese provinces and cities, this study reveals that population aging hinders regional green innovation, while increased social security spending boosts it. The regional economic development level plays an important moderating role in the relationship between social security expenditure and green innovation level. The effect of aging on green innovation varies by region.
