Influence of artificial intelligence development on supply chain diversification

Abstract:
This study examines the impact of corporate artificial intelligence (AI) development on supply chain diversification using data of 3,568 Chinese firms (2011–2020). Findings indicate that AI significantly promotes supply chain diversification, primarily by reducing coordination costs and enhancing information transparency. Heterogeneity analyses indicatepronounced effects in thehigh-tech and manufacturing sectors. Theoretically,the study enhances the understanding of supply chain management in the digital age.Practically,it offers managers insights into leveraging AI toenhance supply chain diversification.
