Abstract:
Based on data from the China Household Finance Survey (CHFS), this study systematically investigates the impact of household population aging on tourism consumption and its underlying mechanisms. The findings reveal that the degree of population aging exerts a significantly positive effect on household tourism expenditure. Further analysis demonstrates that enhanced adaptability to online learning among aging households substantially promotes their participation in the digital economy, which in turn indirectly stimulates consumption by diversifying tourism product offerings and optimizing service experiences. Additionally, population aging heightens families' focus on members' health and quality of life, leading to improved average family health status.
