The role of internal culture for coping with uncertainty in forest management

Abstract: Theories about uncertainty usually focus on its reduction. However, a significant source of uncertainty lies in the innovative and creative capabilities of the human mind. This particular source entangles us in contradictions: both reducing and creating uncertainty simultaneously. Therefore, a theory of uncertainty that solely investigates ways to reduce it is incomplete. It must be complemented by aspects of how uncertainty contributes the betterment of people.
