Risk sharing in managed entry agreements—A review of the Swedish experience

Emelie Andersson, Johanna Svensson, Ulf Persson and Peter Lindgren

Health Policy, 2020, vol. 124, issue 4, 404-410

Abstract: In 2014 managed entry agreements (MEA) between Swedish health care payers (county councils), the reimbursement authority (the Dental and Pharmaceutical Benefits Agency (TLV)) and pharmaceutical companies were introduced to facilitate early and equal access to treatments. MEAs complement the value-based pricing system for out-patient drugs and enables stake-holders to negotiate risk-sharing agreements.
