The transformation of Russian management: a qualitative and theory building approach
Avraham Shama
International Business Review, 1994, vol. 3, issue 3, 289-309
Abstract:
This paper makes use of a qualitative research approach to develop fundamental knowledge of Russian management behavior during the ongoing transformation from a planned to a market economy. Data from focus groups of managers was collected in 1989, 1991, and 1992 and showed the dynamic impact of and adjustments to the market economy on the part of Russian managers. This data was then used as a basis for building a theoretical framework of the transformation from a centrally-planned to a market driven economy.
