Portuguese tour operators: A fight for survival

A. George Assaf, Carlos Barros and Peter U.C. Dieke

Journal of Air Transport Management, 2011, vol. 17, issue 3, 155-157

Abstract: This article looks at the efficiency of Portuguese tour operators focusing on firm size, group ownership, and mergers and acquisitions. It has been argued that changed market conditions in Europe make it hard for tour operators to achieve economies of scale and market growth without increasing firm size or being part of a more high profile company.
