European Community policies on airline concentration

Dutheil de la Rochère, Jacqueline

Journal of Air Transport Management, 1994, vol. 1, issue 2, 103-107

Abstract: During the last three years, on the basis of the EC Council Merger Regulation of 1989, the European Commission has evaluated the compatibility with the Common Market of various restructurings in the air transport industry, such as Air France — Sabena and British Airways — TAT. The Commission cannot impede the disappearance of small companies and does not prevent the growth of the strongest, the most dynamic companies; its main preoccupation is to ensure that markets remain open.
