Travel agents and regional air services

Im Humphreys

Journal of Air Transport Management, 1994, vol. 1, issue 3, 151-160

Abstract: This paper sets out to investigate the influence of travel agents on scheduled air service demand at UK regional airports. The role of the travel agent within the airport choice process is identified, and a telephone survey is used to test the impact of travel agents on demand for scheduled air services from regional airports. Services from Cardiff-Wales to Brussels and to Amsterdam are examined and the results are analysed. Possible future strategies for stimulating the role of travel agents in relation to regional airports and airlines are advanced.
