At a Crossroads: Modernizing Utility Infrastructure in a Tough Credit Environment
Wayne P. Olson
The Electricity Journal, 2010, vol. 22, issue 7, 6-26
Abstract:
Given the current state of electric utility creditworthiness, it is reasonable to question whether the industry is "ready to roll" from a financial perspective, and to ask what, if anything, should be done about that. Part of the answer will be to find ways to improve the credit quality of the industry over time--with the interest coverage ratio being the most objective measure of credit quality.
