Construction of the trans-Alaska oil pipeline

Vern E Hauck and George A Geistauts

Omega, 1982, vol. 10, issue 3, 259-265

Abstract: The tangible components of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System are outlined and the Integrated Project Planning and Management Cycle is visualized from the General Organizational Matrix viewpoint: then the multiple command structures in one large-scale Arctic Energy Project are analyzed retrospectively to test some a priori expectations about project managment. A number of lessons emerge from actual experience that may aid in the management of future energy projects.
