Abstract:
The lease-or-buy decision has been widely considered. This paper examines the reverse side of the situation, namely from the lessor's point of view. Which leases should be accepted or offered, how should they be funded, what decisions should be made if taxable capacity runs out, what is the impact of gearing restrictions or lessee defaults? These are just some of the questions examined below. The paper describes the operations of a lessor, its problems and possible interactions. Based upon this description, a computer simulation model is described and some example results presented.
