Productivity predictors of assembly workers using standards based on learning curves

Don W Finn

Omega, 1984, vol. 12, issue 6, 569-574

Abstract: This study examines the impact of long range planning in a manufacturing setting where standards are used to budget and evaluate employee performance and it further investigates whether demographic factors can be used to predict worker performance. Twenty-three factors were chosen for the study and five factors were significant in explaining employee performance. The results suggest that demographic factors may be used to identify potentially high performing workers.
