Abstract:
Some simple theoretical models have been formulated for Helicopter production at Westland Helicopters Ltd. These appear to give results in reasonable agreement with available production data. Analytic results are given for the occurrence and propagation of production delay. These demonstrate the relation between the time taken for the complete assembly process and the basic reliability of individual production operations. It is believed that the results would apply to the production of any system from a large number of components.
