The effect of intersector dispatching on police patrol performance

Gary M Kern

Omega, 1987, vol. 15, issue 5, 411-417

Abstract: The experiment reported here concerned the relative effect of intersector dispatching on police patrol performance. Using a computer simulation model, it was found that the inclusion of intersector dispatching can have a significant impact on patrol response time. This should be of interest to patrol administrators and researchers who study this area. Despite the anticipated problems in its implementation, intersector dispatching holds great promise for improving patrol operations.
