Abstract:
This paper reviews the buffering issues in materials requirements planning (MRP) systems, issues whose combined effects have not been adequately dealt with in the literature. Though some factors, such as part commonality and lot sizing, have been dealt with individually, their interactions, for example, have so far not been ascertained.
