Abstract:
Strategic comparative advantage through information processing can be achieved by using information to support a complex, strategic decision process. This paper discusses the general requirements of a Strategic Decision Support System (SDSS) and presents a framework for an SDSS which integrates recent advances in both the design of decision support systems and the understanding of complex human decision-making processes. The proposed SDSS architecture is comprised of a network of subsystem interfaces that support all phases of strategic decision-making activities. This SDSS provides a robust framework adaptable to a variety of organizational problem situations.
