Information system design, organisational control and optimality
John Banbury
Omega, 1975, vol. 3, issue 4, 449-460
Abstract:
The paper identifies the importance of the Model of the User which is implicit in the development of formal information systems. The nature of the model is examined with particular reference to social variables; the relation between the criterion function and organisational goals is also discussed. The paper concludes with some thoughts on the implications for the nature of an appropriate methodology for systems development, and for its role in the organisation.
