Abstract:
► The arguments in favor of High Speed Rail (HSR) have changed little since 1967. ► Congestion relief was the primary selling point for HSR in the 1960s. ► The definitional parameters for HSR have been fairly well established since 1967. ► Nationalism and geopolitics have been consistent themes in HSR advocacy. ► HSR as a solution to energy constraints is the difference between 1967 and today.
