Abstract:
Iranian day-ahead market (IDAM) launched in 2003. However, after several years from launching, there are still significant challenges in this market, such as the high number of power units' status changes (starts/stops) in the day-ahead program output. This article analyzes the current state of the IDAM by two essential studies to reduce the drawbacks of this market. First, comparative studies are performed between the current situation of the IDAM and some major markets around the world. Second, we investigate the roots of the drawbacks of IDAM by analyzing actual data. Then, some structural solutions for reducing the drawbacks are proposed.
