Delimitation arrangements in Arctic seas: Cases of precedence or securing of strategic/economic interests?

Abstract: This article examines the extent to which arrangements between adjacent states in the European part of the Arctic will create precedents for the stipulation of the boundary in the Barents Sea. The delimitation arrangements discussed are the grey zone between Norway and the USSR in the Barents Sea, and the Norwegian-Icelandic joint area between Jan Mayen and Iceland in the North Atlantic.
