Australian ocean policy -- the need for review

Abstract:
Despite Australia's considerable interests in the oceans Australia lacks an overall perspective with which to approach its marine interests. this paper argues that the time is now ripe for a review, preferably carried out by a parliamentary committee, to consider the future directions of Australia 's ocean programmes and policies.
