Marine Policy, 1991, vol. 15, issue 1, 2-14
Abstract:
With the declaration of its exclusive economic zone in 1980, Malaysia embarked on an ambitious Fishery Development and Management Plan (FDMP). This paper highlights the strategies and implementation of the FDMP and some of the success achieved thus far. Among the issues discussed are overfishing and foreign fleet fishing. These problems can be resolved through negotiations and harmonization of efforts focusing on common interests in the long term.
