Improving science applications to coastal management

Abstract:
In considering the promise that new technologies and science bring to responsible stewardship of the world's oceans, coasts and fisheries, this paper focuses on three applications: the draft International Plan of Action to Improve Status and Trends Reporting, developed by the FAO Advisory Committee on Fisheries Research; the Global Ocean Observing System; and the US-led international initiative "Geographic Information for Sustainable Development".
