EP seats: The politics behind the math

Axel Moberg

Mathematical Social Sciences, 2012, vol. 63, issue 2, 78-84

Abstract: The paper examines the basic concepts and political motives behind the allocation of seats in the European Parliament and negotiations in the last inter-governmental conferences. It finds that the discussion reflects unresolved ideological differences, and that hardly any proposed model meets the requirement for a solution once and for all.
