Abstract: The Brazilian Electric System is distinguished by the generation of energy through hydroelectric power plants, given the great potential of the hydrographic basins that exist throughout the country. However, since Brazil has large territorial dimensions that consequently result in enormous distances between the generating units and the consumer centers, the problem of planning the expansion of the transmission becomes a complex task, whose goal is to select from a set predefined of candidate circuits those inserted in the basic topology of the system guarantee its reliable operation at a lower cost of investment. Therefore, this Work of Conclusion of Course aimed at the study of a Constructive Heuristic Algorithm (CHA), in which the expansion decisions are relaxed and represented by a hyperbolic tangent function, and sensitivity analysis, resulting in a new technique for solving the problem of planning the expansion of electric power transmission systems that, on its turn, is originally non-linear mixed integer programming of difficult solution. Therefore, a methodology based on the creation of a new Expansion Parameter (EP) function was proposed through non-linear numerical methods and in the development of new sensitivity indices based on the combination of those already existing in the technical literature selected through statistical analysis. The solutions obtained were satisfactory for the planning horizon, either for small, medium and large size didactic for real systems (Garver with and without redispatch; IEEE 24 bars, G0, G1, G2, G3 and G4 scenarios; Brazilian South with without redispatch and Colombian, plans P1, P2 and P3), thus being a robust and efficient tool.
