Abstract:
Evaluating the reliability of mobile communication services (MCS) provided by the low earth orbit satellite network (LEO-SN) is critical. Although dynamic rerouting enhances MCS reliability, it also increases the uncertainty of MCS paths, making it difficult for existing studies to evaluate MCS reliability. To this end, a novel satellite network evolution model (SNEM) was proposed. Firstly, a satellite double layer network model was presented to decouple MCS from the time-varying satellite infrastructure network. Secondly, the satellite network evolution condition was designed to capture dynamic rerouting events triggered by node failures. Finally, dynamic rerouting-based satellite network evolution rule was proposed to model dynamic restorations of MCS. SNEM was applied to a mega constellation with over 1000 LEO satellites, which demonstrated its scalability and applicability. Comparative analysis with the typical service reliability evaluation method highlights the effectiveness and superiority of SNEM. The proposed model provides a strong foundation for the design and optimization of LEO-SN reliability.
