Availability analysis of phase mission weighted components system with common bus performance sharing

Reliability Engineering and System Safety, 2025, vol. 260, issue C

Abstract: In this paper, a reliability model is constructed for a weighted performance sharing phase mission system. The system comprises N components and a common bus, with each component having multiple deteriorated states. Each state has various performance levels influenced by external factors. The system operates over L phases, distinguished by the weight and demand of the components and the required quality of the system. To remain operational, the components must meet their respective demands while maintaining the system quality. When the system fails, performance is redistributed among the components via the common bus to restore operational status. An optimum allocation algorithm is developed to share performance efficiently using minimal transmission capacity. The instantaneous availability of the system in each phase is determined using a combination of the Markov process and the UGF technique based method. A numerical example of a hybrid wind-solar power distribution system is presented to illustrate valuable findings using the proposed method.
