Abstract:
The storage and transportation of hydrogen are critical aspects of hydrogen industry development, with hydrogen compressors playing a vital role in ensuring efficient transmission. The integration of variable-frequency drives (VFDs) into hydrogen compressors extends their lifespan, reduces energy consumption, and improves both pressure control accuracy and operational safety. However, current research primarily focuses on the mechanical aspects and feasibility of VFD technology, while insufficient attention has been paid to its industrial implementation and standardization. This paper reviews the industrial applications of hydrogen compressors and VFDs in hydrogen transportation, examines key technologies and selection methods, and highlights leading companies and their products. By summarizing product requirements and industry practices, this study aims to provide valuable insights for advancing VFD technology and promoting its adoption in hydrogen transportation.
