Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, 2015, vol. 48, issue C, 892-931

Abstract: Energy is the basic necessity for life and a key factor to excel a country’s economy. Pakistan despite being richly blessed with natural energy resources is dependent on foreign sources and is currently facing severe energy deficiency. At the time of its independence in 1947, Pakistan inherited 60MW of power. The energy sector had made some progress in the beginning but unfortunately the growth in positive curve couldn’t last long. The dilemma of the ever increasing gap between demand and supply has rendered Pakistan an energy deficient country where most the people have none or limited access to electricity.
