Abstract:
This paper jointly discusses the technical and economic opportunities for establishing a solar industry in Saudi Arabia. A review of policy documents and past research reveals that the Saudi agency responsible for developing the nation’s renewable energy has announced an ambitious plan to install 41GW of solar capacity and invest $108.9 billion by 2032. The incentives offered by the Saudi government to encourage the establishment of a solar industry are also summarized, including financing and large tax breaks.
