Abstract:
Composite generation and transmission test systems have been widely used in power system studies. Among them, IEEE reliability test system (IEEE-RTS) and Roy-Billinton test system (RBTS) are merely the ones which have reliability data and can be applied for risk studies. The IEEE-RTS and RBTS have been constructed on the basis of North-America power grids. Having only IEEE-RTS and RBTS, it firstly means lack of diversity for reliability test systems; Secondly, due to differences between operation and reliability data of North-America power grids as compared to power grids in other continents and especially in Asia, evaluation results obtained by IEEE-RTS and RBTS may not be realistic for worldwide researches. In order to mitigate the aforementioned limitations of the available reliability test systems, this paper presents a reliability test system on the basis of a real HV network in a province located in the south of Iran. The developed test system has 230 and 400kV voltage levels, 36 Buses, 53 lines, 11 coupling transformers and 33 generating units. Total load and installed generation capacity of the system is 3544 and 4470MW, respectively. Reliability data for the developed test system has been extracted from failure and repair data gathered in a 5 year time interval between 2004 and 2008. Load flow data has been assigned according to peak load condition recorded in 2014.
