Abstract:
This paper presents the network competition model concerning the supply-demand interaction in the international maritime transport market and evaluates the impact of the introduction of Post-Panamax vessels. First, the Nash equilibrium-based competition model is formulated by considering the behavior of both carriers and shippers, which works as the equilibrium constraints. Later accuracy of the model is evaluated which resulted with a good accuracy in duplication of container throughput. Findings of the different numerical examples based on application of proposed model suggest that the major use of Post-Panamax vessel leads to enforce the hierarchy between Asian ports.
