Abstract:
In this paper, the authors briefly introduce progresses in implementation of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) in Japan. ITS impact economy and society in many ways. Many researchers have tried to quantify the impact of ITS on the economy using econometric or operations research based methodologies. In this paper, we demonstrate the application of computable general equilibrium (CGE) model to analyze the impact of ITS on Japan's economy. The purpose of this paper is to introduce CGE models to non-specialists and to demonstrate that the CGE approach can be used for ITS impact analysis by presenting a simple example.
