Transitions--Politics, economics and liberty

Abstract:
It would be a pleasure at any time to be asked to lecture in this distinguished School of an important university which represents a proud, industrious and outward-looking city, but it is a most unusual pleasure to do so in honour of Tore Browaldh. Mr Browaldh epitomizes a Sweden which I have come to respect and admire. He is a successful businessman, a public-spirited citizen, and a kind human being. Not content with this happy combination, he is also a deeply curious man, sensitive to topical issues without ever falling victim to fashion, prepared for the unorthodox but resistant to the flashy, in short, a man of parts (as an older generation might have said), of style and substance at the same time.
