Abstract:
•Women report higher job satisfaction than men at work although women face worse objective labor conditions than men.•We examine whether job satisfaction gender disparities exist among PhD holders working at Uruguay's public university.•Gender gaps favoring males are observed for satisfaction with the job's autonomy, promotion opportunities, and administrative tasks, security and contribution to society.
