Politics and policies of food self-sufficiency in Tanzania

Abstract: Since independence, Tanzania has stated her food production goals in many national declarations and indicated how the policies were to be met. Implementation of policies has not produced more food because the political ends were not consistent with economic directions. This paper discusses both.
