Les inegalites geographiques de la mortalite au Cameroun

Abstract: Résumé La diversité géographique du Cameroun rend particulièrement intéressante et nécessaire l'analyse des inégalités géographiques de la mortalité, que ce soit du point de vue du niveau de la morbidité et de la mortalité ou encore du point de vue de la répartition des facteurs. Parmi ceux-ci figurent également les facteurs géographiques (ou écologiques) eux-mêmes. L'exemple est donné ici de la répartition de la mortalité infantile. Il apparaît très difficile d'isoler les facteurs géographiques et les facteurs socio-économiques, qui sont en réalité imbriqués. Quoi qu'il en soit, la prise en compte de la variation géographique de la mortalité peut être un élément fondamental dans la mise en oeuvre d'une politique sanitaire. Because of the geographic diversity of Cameroon, the analysis of spatial inequalities of mortality is a challenging research topic. This is true for mortality and morbidity as well as for the distribution of underlying factors. Among these are the geographic (or ecological) factors. The example of the distribution of infant mortality is given here. It seems difficult to isolate geographical and socioeconomic factors which are intertwined. Anyway, taking into account the spatial variation of mortality can be a fundamental element in the implementation of health policy.
