A continuity theorem and some counterexamples for the theory of maintained systems

Abstract:
The reliability of maintained systems is considered. A "continuity theorem" is presented which states that the stochastic behavior of a maintained system depends continuously on the stochastic behavior of its components. Examples of maintained systems with IFR component lifetimes and exponential repair times are presented for which time until first system failure is not NBU.
