Statistical issues in radiosonde observation of atmospheric temperature and humidity profiles

A. Fassò, F. Finazzi and F. Madonna

Statistics & Probability Letters, 2018, vol. 136, issue C, 97-100

Abstract: Measurement uncertainty of atmospheric profiles obtained by radiosoundings is crucial in climate change studies. This paper shows how the understanding of geographic gaps of radiosonde networks calls for a functional approach able to handle spatio-temporal profile data, and related complexity issues are addressed.
