Abstract:
For an incomplete two-way contingency table including cases of missing units (i.e., unobserved data for both variables), we show that every pair of missing mechanisms posited for bivariate categorical variables is uniquely reproduced by an extended missing at random (EMAR) model with exactly equal fit. A condition is thus proposed to identify EMAR from the other missing mechanisms.
