Abstract:
This paper provides a partial solution to a long-standing open problem posted by Balakrishnan and Zhao (2013) concerning the likelihood ratio ordering of the lifetimes of parallel systems with two heterogeneous exponential components. The proposed method can be applied to tackle other stochastic ordering problems in a parallel system.
